Senior Retired Thoroughbred Racehorse - Age 20

Buddha was the very first horse Li bought to fulfill a childhood lifelong dream; but Li quickly discovered Buddha's troubled past.  When Buddha could no longer race as a young horse he was sold numerous times and ended up on a property that was abandoned.  Part of a heartbreaking rescue, Buddha was left abandoned in a field with 13 other horses. When the SPCA intervened, the herd was found severely neglected, left without proper food or water...and most important a loss of hope. Buddha, once frail and malnourished, has since regained his purpose after being sold to his previous loving owner Kali.  He did years of educational and professional riding and has now retired with Li and her husband Alan.  His calm quiet spirit is the glue that his existing herd depend on each day. He is often referred to as the "General" and emits this wisdom that many people feel when around him.

Lacey

Lacey, Clydesdale Hackney Ex Amish Horse - Age 24

Lacey came to us after enduring a hard life on an Amish farm. When we first met her, it was impossible to walk away—this frail mare was nearly 500 pounds underweight, little more than skin and bone, and desperately in need of care. In the middle of winter, Lacey made her way to the farm, and her healing journey began.

With time, proper nutrition, and love, she slowly started to regain her strength. But as the months went by, we noticed unusual behaviors. After veterinary assessments, we learned that Lacey is partially blind, with her sight and coordination continuing to decline. Despite this, she has adapted beautifully to her new life. A gentle, predictable routine helps her feel safe, and she is now generously fed, healthy, and comfortable.

When Lacey first arrived, we were told she was 14 years old, but a veterinary evaluation revealed that she is closer to 24. Knowing this makes her progress even more remarkable. She is truly the gentle giant of the paddock and often lower on the peaking order although a Queen in our eyes! Our hope is simple: that Lacey spends her golden years surrounded by love, care, and peace in her forever home here on Piper’s Hill.

Dani, American Standardbred Ex Amish Horse - Age 3

Dani is a young ex-Amish horse whose life took a heartbreaking turn when she was involved in a farm accident that left her with a broken pelvis. Instead of receiving care, she was sent to an auction where her future looked grim. Thankfully, fate stepped in—Li’s dear friend Danielle saw her potential and pulled her from that path.

When Danielle reached out to us, we didn’t hesitate. The moment we met Dani, it was love at first sight. Despite her past and her injury, this little mare radiates spirit and determination. She is spunky and full of life, always curious about the world around her. Dani is incredibly affectionate, soaking up attention and giving it right back with kisses and nuzzles. And she’s smart—sometimes a little too smart for her own good!

Today, Dani is thriving in her forever home at Piper’s Hill, where her resilience and playful personality bring joy to everyone who meets her

Swiss Valais & Babydoll Lamns - 6 months

Often called the “cutest sheep in the world,” our Valais are as charming as they are striking, with their fluffy white wool and adorable black faces. They are gentle, curious, and love attention — making them a favorite among visitors. With their friendly personalities and teddy bear-like appearance, they bring joy to everyone who meets them.

Our Babydolls may be small in size, but they are big on personality. Known for their sweet, smiling faces, these heritage sheep are incredibly affectionate and calm. They are wonderful companions to the rest of our flock, adding so much warmth and character to the farm.

Together, our Valais and Babydoll sheep create a playful, peaceful little family that perfectly embodies the spirit of Piper’s Hill Farm — full of love, charm, and laughter.

Johnny, June & Teddy,  Shetland Ponies

There’s something truly special about our Shetland pony, Teddy — something everyone notices right away!!! He is definitely a farm favourite and lives up to his name "Teddy Bear".  Teddy joined us during a difficult time, when our vet warned that one of our beloved ponies, Johnny, might need to be put down due to a severe infection. Fearing for Johnny’s partner, June, Li immediately searched for a companion — and that’s how Teddy found his way to Piper’s Hill Farm.

Trusting her intuition, Li chose not to move forward with euthanasia, and miraculously, Johnny made a full recovery! Now, instead of two, we have three chubby, lovable Shetland ponies — each with their own quirky personalities and hilarious traits. They bring endless joy, and we couldn’t love them more.

Bear, Mini Highland Cow - Age 1

Bear is the gentle giant of Piper’s Hill Farm. With his shaggy coat, long sweeping horns, and soulful eyes, he’s every bit as majestic as he is lovable. Despite his impressive size, Bear has a calm and affectionate nature — he adores scratches, slow strolls around the pasture, and greeting visitors with his quiet charm.

Highlands are known for their resilience and beauty, and Bear is no exception. He embodies the peaceful spirit of the breed while adding his own touch of playfulness and curiosity. Whether he’s lounging in the fields or standing proudly for photos, Bear has a way of stealing hearts instantly.

Simply put, Bear isn’t just a cow — he’s family.

Poncho & Tully - Baby Mini Donkeys

We're thrilled to announce the arrival of our newest family members all the way from North Carolina! Li has always dreamt of owning a brown miniature donkey, and she got lucky with the chance to bring home a sister too.

Poncho and Tully may be small in stature, but their personalities are larger than life!  they’ve already stolen the spotlight (and our hearts).

Poncho and Tully are inseparable best friends, brimming with character, mischief, and charm. Whether they’re braying for attention or trotting side by side through the pasture, they bring endless joy to the farm every single day.

Chickens! All kinds and ages

No farm is complete without a flock of happy hens, and ours are truly the heartbeat of Piper’s Hill Farm. With their bright feathers, curious clucks, and busy little personalities, our chickens keep the barnyard lively from sunrise to sunset.

Each hen has her own quirks — some are bold and adventurous, while others are gentle and reserved. Together, they provide us with the freshest eggs, endless entertainment, and plenty of laughter as they scratch, peck, and chatter their way through the day.

Beyond their eggs, our chickens bring a sense of warmth and cheer to the farm. They remind us of the simple joys of slow living — greeting the morning, soaking in the sunshine, and finding happiness in the little things.
